It started out as a Father's Day party.
Jason Centeno moved to Tampa from Philadelphia six years ago — retired firefighter, father of six, didn't know a soul. So he did what any reasonable man would do: threw a cookout in the cul-de-sac the day before Father's Day and called it Spring Break for Dads.
Because we all got robbed, if we're being honest.
Four or five neighbor dads and their families. That was it. That was the whole Pack.
Here's how he funded it: the roofer who'd just done his house. Jason walked over, made his pitch, and the guy handed over $300, a banner, and a leap of faith. Food was covered. Banner went up. Roofer got 3 or 4 new jobs from the neighborhood before the summer was over.
That moment basically wrote the DOTS playbook. Find someone willing to take a chance on a good idea. Make it magical. Everybody wins. We've been running on “Beg, Borrow, and Barter” ever since — and we have zero shame about it.
That became an annual thing. Then the neighborhood started bringing friends. Then Jason wanted to take it to the whole community — a development of 2,500 homes — and partnered with the clubhouse to make it happen. To do that, he needed to prove he could actually organize dads. So he started a group.
Someone said it should be a nonprofit. He said yeah, that tracks.
Monthly meetings became weekly calls. April 2026 he made it official — incorporated, 501(c)(3), the whole thing. And that next Father's Day party? Three hundred people showed up. A hundred gift bags. A community that didn't exist before because one dad decided nobody else was going to throw the party.

What showing up actually looks like.
Monthly First Friday hangouts — in person, at the clubhouse or out on the town. Weekly Monday night calls. A WhatsApp community of dads helping dads. Movie nights, tailgates, date nights, family cookouts, and things that just pop up because somebody in the Pack made it happen.
